    Siglo- century
    Agua dulce- fresh water,
    Pobladores settlers, inhabitants

    Pirates in cabo

Pirates in Los Cabos And what if we talk a little bit about the history of Los Cabos?

Sounds good to me. Many of the SpanishUp2U walkers come to Los Cabos or have passed through here before, and those who haven't yet want to come! That's why it's interesting to talk about local history. The question is, who lived in the Baja California Sur Peninsula in the 16th century when the Spanish arrived?

Well, these productive lands with fresh water were inhabited by local settlers, indigenous people. The Pericú and the Guaicura were the most important ones.

    Let's break down some words:

    Siglo - century
    Agua dulce - fresh water
They obtained water from the San José estuary, for example.
    Pobladores - settlers, inhabitants

So, we had the first indigenous inhabitants. Human life has been present on this peninsula since 2500 BC, as evidenced by the remains found, including cave paintings.
