Legend of the tree of love

This 19th century legend has its origin in the city of Zacatecas and is a story that endures among generations of Zacatecans. The story dates back to the years of the French occupation and the Reform War, and arises around the place that today is known as Plaza Miguel Auza.

Legend has it that in 1860 a young woman named Oralia lived in a stately home. She was a young woman who spread her joie de vivre to everyone. Juan was a humble young man who had silently fallen in love with Oralia and dreamed of improving his work situation, as he felt that his condition distanced him from the girl.

In the afternoons, when Juan left the mine, he became a water carrier and hurried to deliver water to Oralia. With her he took care of the plants that he watered in his garden, especially a tree that he cared for with affection.
