    Nezahualcóyotl, el tlatoani poeta




    Nezahualcóyotl nació en 1402 y murió en 1470. Su madre era Matlalcihuatzin princesa mexica.
    Nezahualcóyotl significa “coyote en ayuno” y fue un tlatoani que se destacó por su amor al conocimiento como la filosofía, la historia y la poesía, hasta nuestros días han llegado los poemas atribuidos a este rey, se caracterizan por su belleza y profundidad.

    Llegó al trono cuando tenía 28 años, luego de que su padre fuera asesinado por el ejército de Tezozómoc; Nezahualcóyotl tuvo que huir de su reino pero regresó después para retomarlo.

    Desde muy joven se destacó en las armas, en el estudio de los astros y sobre todo en la poesía, se llegó a decir que Texcoco era la Atenas de los pueblos en el Nuevo Continente.
