    World Food Day

October 16, World Food Day, the FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations) in 1979 created this day for awareness and reflection on the importance of the subject in the world.

    Why this day October 16?

Because it is the day of the foundation of the FAO in Quebec, in 1945. It is the most celebrated day in the UN calendar, with 150 ceremonies. The aim is to put the theme on the table, to help the most disadvantaged countries to achieve their goal of eradicating hunger.

But this year with the COVID19 it will not have been possible to make so many ceremonies. No, of course, and the impact that the pandemic is having is terrible, the number of people marching towards famine has grown from 135 million to 270 million.

In other words, it has doubled.

Exactly. It's a terrible thing when we see so much food being thrown away every day in the so-called "Western world. This year's motto in the Organization is to cultivate, to nourish, to preserve. Together. They want zero hunger in 2030.
