    Rosaura Revueltas

Rosaura was born in 1910, she had a very interesting life always linked to cultural life. It is said that part of what she considered as her destiny was to make known the works of her brothers, that is how I know that, dressed in white, after the death of her brother Silvestre, she took the scores of her works to the directors of Bellas Artes and when José wrote one of his first books, she was the one who got the printing of a small edition.

But she had her own story, she was an actress and dancer. With director Emilio "El Indio" Fernandez she made one of her most important films: Islas Marías next to Pedro Infante. She acted in Un día de vida for which she won a Cuauhtémoc Award, El rebozo de Soledad, for which she won an Ariel Award. In Germany, he filmed a TV series called Sonrisas de México.

In 1949 his first play was La desconocida de Arras directed by Charles Rooner, then he acted in El cuadrante de la soledad (written by his brother José, directed by Ignacio Retes and with scenery by Diego Rivera). In Germany she acted in The Adopted Daughter, in Bertolt Brecht's The Caucasian Chalk Circle and in Sandhog in Dresden. Back in Mexico he participated in The Black Eyed Seminarian. Finally, during his stay in Cuba, he starred again in The Caucasian Chalk Circle.

In 1954 she shot one of the most controversial films in the history of American cinema: Biberman's Salt of the Earth; this film was accused of being a communist in the middle of the Cold War, for which she was blacklisted in Hollywood, imprisoned and deported, however, she later won an award as best actress for this film at the Krlovy Vary film festival. This film has become a cult film.

She spent her last years teaching dance and yoga and died in 1996. When talking about the Revolts, Rosaura's name is sometimes forgotten, but she is more and more present with her own brightness and personality.
